How do I sync my Jornada 540 to my laptop?

I'm trying to sync my Jornada 540 to my ACER Aspire 5515 Laptop (Running Vista 32 bit). I plugged it into the PDA Cradle, then plugged the USB into the laptop. It does the beep on my laptop, notifying me that it is recognizing that something was plugged in, but it doesn't do anything to set it up. Any ideas?
